Executive Director Kathy Copeland

Kathy Copeland, Executive Director Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra

Here is a piece I edited recently. Finaly, a recent one. You’ve seen what I did when I was first starting out. Now here is a piece I did a couple weeks ago. I’m pretty happy with the way this one turned out. It’s also about a great organization. Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra headed up by Kathy Copeland works with the Wounded Warrior Project in Mammoth Lakes, California. It’s a great program that works with young men and women who have been injured while in service for our country. They are always looking for volunteers and donations so you can head over to either of the above websites if you would like to help out.

Apparently I have an evaluation version of Sorenson Squeeze floating around still. I’m going to convert the orginal .mov file with adobe flash and upload it here, today. I should have the video that’s here replaced with one without a sorenson watermark in an hour or two.

A New Look

I thought the old theme was pretty cool, but there were a couple of things I didn’t care for. Don’t be surprised if there are several face lifts around here while I experiment with different themes. It may not look as good right now, but it is more functional. I’ll spice up the look a bit, later.

Tommy, The Cat Alarm Clock

Tommy The Cat

Tommy The Cat

Funny thing happened on the way into the office this morning. Ok, well not really on the way in. Last night, I was really tired and my cat, Tommy, was laying on the bed and came and curled up with me. He laid with his back against my side and grabed my arm and pulled it against him and went to sleep holding me like that. It was so cute that I forgot to set my alarm clock. Normally, I wake up before my alarm clock even goes off. However, by mid week I’m usually pretty tired in the morning, from staying up too late the previous nights. I guess that’s what happened because I didn’t wake up on time this morning. In fact, if it wasn’t for Tommy, who knows when I would have woke up. That’s right, Tommy made sure I wasn’t too late this morning.

At the time I was supposed to be leaving for work, I was still sound asleep. That is, until Tommy realized it. He jumped on the bed and started walking back and forth across me while yelling at me. I woke up and thought, WTF is he doing??! Then I looked at the clock and saw it was 9:30!  Yikes! I’m already supposed to be at work! SO I hit the floor running and got to work, without being too late. It only takes me 10 mins to get to work, so other than looking like I just rolled out of bed, and being 15 mins late, it wasn’t too bad. Thanks to Tommy that is. Who knows how long I would have slept if it wasn’t for my amazing Tommy The Cat. I knew he knows when I’m supposed to get home because he is waiting for me at the driveway, except the time he was really sick. Apparently he knows when I am supposed to leave for work also. Now if I could just teach him that I don’t have to work on the weekends and that it’s ok for me to sleep in those days.

By the way, stay tuned for Tommy’s blog. I’ll let you know when it’s up and running.

Here is another video I made last year. It’s from, like the title says, The Nissan Mammoth Challenge Freeride 2008. I made two videos from this event. Unfortunatly, I don’t know what happened to the first one.

I’ve got some more videos from last year to post. Then I can move on to what I’ve done this year.

Mammoth Mountain Snowboard and Ski Video – Jan 08

Here’s a little video I made for work. The footage is from some stuff Mammoth Mountain sent us via a satellite feed. I took what I thought was the usable parts and edited them together with some music. I was pretty happy with how it came out and thought it’s a shame it will only be on TV a couple times. I made this one last year. The music is a song I worked on with a friend from IRC. The footage is from the end of Dec. 2007 to early Jan. 2008

Poor, Sick Tommy

Posted on : Mon 01-12-2009 | By : Chris

When I first started this blog I was fairly excited. I already have a blog about all thing computer related at www.pccybertek.com However I wanted to do something that was a bit more personel. So I was rolling right along, updateing almost everyday.

Then my cat, Tommy got sick. I don’t remember the exact date but everything was fine. Then Monday night, before new years, he was lying on the bed. His eys looked really bad and were rolling up in his head. He wouldn’t respond to us. It had us very scared. The next day, when I came home from lunch, my wife said she didn’t know where he was. He usually waits for me everyday when I come home for lunch and I didn’t see him either. I went around looking for him, calling his name and couldn’t find him. Then when I was walking back to the front door I herd him meow softly, and found him hidden between some stuff on the porch.

He didn’t look good, but at least his eyes weren’t rolled up. When I got home from work he was sleeping, which he had been doing all day. The next morning I noticed he hadn’t touched his food. He eats a lot and it’s not like him not to eat at all. This went on for several days.

New Years eve was really a bummer because we still couldn’t get him to eat a single bite of anything. New Year’s day was the same and he still wouldn’t eat, although he would drink a little water. I had followed him out the day before when he went to the bathroom because we were afraid he might go somewhere. But he came in after he went to the  bathroom and it was bad. We wanted to take him to a vet but they weren’t open.

We finally got him into the vet on Friday. They said no at first, but I explained how bad he was and they squeezed us in. The trip to the vet was not a fun time. This is getting long enough without going into that. Anyways, it cost us $400 for x-rays and a blood test which didn’t tell us anything. They did give him some water intravenously because he was “so dehydrated.” They couldn’t get urine for a test so we had to reschedule bringing him back the next day, Saturday.

Saturday morning Tommy pushed the box out of the way, that we had blocking his cat door, and got out. So we had to reschedule again. They weren’t open Sunday, so we had to make it for Monday. By this time, we were sick with worry. Not that we weren’t before. I finally had a couple days off of work and all I could do was sit around and worry about him. My wife wasn’t doing much better. There were quite a few times that I went and sat or laid with him on the bed, where he spent most the time sleeping, that I came out of there teary eyed. That was the 6th day he had gone without eating a single bite. His fur looked real bad and he had lost a lot of weight. You could see the sadness in his eyes.

Saturday night I took a can of his favorite food in with me into the bedroom. I had tried to all his favorite treats and foods all week long. So I showed him the can of food and he lifted his head a little to sniff it and laid back down again. Just like he had done everytime before. I dipped my finger in the can and tried to put some of the gravey on his lips. He turned his head away, but licked his lips. He looked a little intrested so this time a put a little more gravey on his mouth. He licked it up again. So I did that several times and put a little food on his upper lip. he licked it and sat up a little. I did that several more times and showed him that it was from the can in my hand. Then I put the can under his nose and he started eating. He kept eating. He stopped to get his breath and went back to eating again. I yelled to my wife that he was eating! By the time he was done, about a third of the can was gone. When I brought the can in to the living room, to show my wife how much he ate, lets just say my eyes weren’t dry.

Sunday morning I noticed more of his food was gone. Tommy kept eating through out the day. He even ate some of his treats. He was still sleeping all day, but he was getting up to eat now.

Monday I had to go back to work so my wife took him to the vet. They still couldn’t get a urine sample but took another blood sample. They also still couldn’t tell us what was wrong with him. At least now he was eating again .

The past couple years haven’t been easy for us. Two years ago, my wife lost her father after a bad battle with cancer. Then this last year she lost her mother. This was her first holidays’ with out either of them and it was tough. Even though Tommy is a cat, he’s very special to us. We don’t have any kids and he is like our kid. I knew he was important to us, but I didn’t realize truly how much untill this happened. He is getting better. He is still very skinny but he’s back to sleeping with us and following me around. When I come home from work, he’s waiting for me again. I think he knows how much we worried about him because lately he has been kissing us on the head more than ever. When I look at him now, I can’t help but think how lucky I am that he is still with us.

day after xmas

Today I was supposed to go finish a computer repair job. Then I got a call that it would be better if I did it tomorrow morning. I didn’t really want to have to go work tomorrow morning, but it ment I could stay home today. So I was just starting to get into the idea that I has the day off, when the phone rang again. This time it was work and I was needed. I had to go in for a couple of hours to make some updated weather forecast videos. We just had some good storms and Mammoth got quite a bit snow, like four feet. So we couldn’t continue to run the previous weather and conditions reports.

…evening after Christmas

When I finaly made it home I started working on my last.fm account. I’ve had it for a couple year. Unfortunatly, I almost never used it. I think it would have been intresting to track a lot of the music I have played over the last couple of years. I’m trying to use it now so it whill have a more acurate glimpse of what all I listen to. My music collection is huge, so I don’t think it will ever be acurately calculated.

While I was listening to music, I decided to have a little fun in photoshop. Here’s what I made.

World of Warcraft and Me

0

Posted on : Tue 12-23-2008 | By : admin

After steering clear of World of Warcraft for years, I decided to give the free trail a go. I never intended on signing up. I’m really opposed subscription based games. Figured I play for free for 10 days with the trial, then move on. That was the plan. Let’s just say, they don’t call it Warcrack for nothing. As of this writing I’m about half way through lvl 49.

Even if you don’t play, you might find this fun, it’s the epic music from World of Warcraft, and a couple of funny skits. Right now they are celebrateing the Winter Vail, which is basicly Christmas. So the skits here revolve around that theme.

Speaking of Christmas, check out my character, also known as my toon, in some Christmas garb.

My Toon in Xmas Costume

Normally I look nothing like this, but when I went through a portal I found, I was transformed into the little guy you see there.  I also normally ride a white tiger, however, there are a couple places around that have mistletoe, and if you kiss someone underneath it, you get a gift and when you use it, your mount (my white tiger) is transformed into the reigndeer you see above, for 60 mins.

You can check out  my character Kardellron, I also belong to the guild Burning of the Crusade.

I have so many other screenshots that I’ll probably set up a gallery for them. Which gives me a good excuse to fill up my web server, and check out the differnt picture gallery plugins available for WordPress (the software I’m running here).
