A very interesting video on training your ears with white noise. In the example, he is using a synth in Logic, you could apply the same principle with other synthesizer. If you do any audio mixing or sound design, you should see this.

There’s a room in the back of the house which has been through I couple of changes. At first I had my computer in there and it was setup for recording. Back then my computer was a PIII 600 running Windows 98 and then Windows ME. My recording interface was a SeaSound Soloist.

The recording software I used at first was Acid by Sony, although it was by Sonic Foundry back then. My wife and I painted the room purple and the sealing silver. I hung up a few neon lights, a black light and set up a couple of lava lamps. It was my night club looking home studio.

Coachella Live Video Stream

Jack Johnson Cherry PickerAT&T Music will be broadcasting Coachella. I was watching it a little bit ago and the audio and video quality was real good. I go so far as to say impressive. But a couple songs into
Franz Ferdinand
and it went black. That was over 20 mins ago and it is still streaming black. No audio, no video. I loaded Wire Shark and took a look at my network traffic, and sure enough, I’m still getting packets from the stream.  Hahah, it just came back. So it’s working again. Then again, it stopped again before I finished this post. If you wanna just go directly to the video stream, click here here. It may or may not be working. Hope they get it straightened out.

Tonight, Paul McCartney will be head lining. In fact, why don’t I just paste the line up for ya.

One more skiing and snowboarding video I made this year. I don’t have many more of these stashed away. This one I experimented with using more slow mo and some different music. The footage was sent to use by Mammoth Mountain over the satellite. A couple hours later I had this little video.

Janes Addicition & NIN Free and Unreleased music

ninja_2009This summer Janes Addiction and NIN are going on the road for what they are calling NIN|JA 2009. Funny thing is, I saw both of them for the first time on the first Lollapoolaza tour, at Irvine Meadows, California back in 1990. Two years later I saw Rage Against the Machine open Lollapoolaza, whose singer is in Street Sweeper which will also be playing with Janes and NIN.

If you want the free music, just head over to ninja2009.com and give them your e-mail. They will send you a link and password that they call a token. After you go to the link and enter your token, you will be given the option to download the music in one of several file formats. Of course you got your mp3s, and m4a (Apple’s lossless format – meh), FLAC (lossless and my choice) and wave, which I almost got but I can convert FLAC to any format I want and it’s half the size of the waves. After you pick which format you will be able to download a torrent.

reznor_1990Trent Reznor has always had a good handle on making good use of techknowledgy. This isn’t the first time he has released music for free. Although the previous times he asked for a donation. This time it’s free and used as a promotional vehical for the tour. While the RIAA is out there fighting a loseing battle against file shareing, Trent, once again, has used it wisely. I also applaud his choice of using bit torrents for the distribution of this Ninja 2009 sampler.

Today I was supposed to go finish a computer repair job. Then I got a call that it would be better if I did it tomorrow morning. I didn’t really want to have to go work tomorrow morning, but it ment I could stay home today. So I was just starting to get into the idea that I has the day off, when the phone rang again. This time it was work and I was needed. I had to go in for a couple of hours to make some updated weather forecast videos. We just had some good storms and Mammoth got quite a bit snow, like four feet. So we couldn’t continue to run the previous weather and conditions reports.

World of Warcraft and Me

After steering clear of World of Warcraft for years, I decided to give the free trail a go. I never intended on signing up. I’m really opposed subscription based games. Figured I play for free for 10 days with the trial, then move on. That was the plan. Let’s just say, they don’t call it Warcrack for nothing. As of this writing I’m about half way through lvl 49.

Even if you don’t play, you might find this fun, it’s the epic music from World of Warcraft, and a couple of funny skits. Right now they are celebrateing the Winter Vail, which is basicly Christmas. So the skits here revolve around that theme.

Speaking of Christmas, check out my character, also known as my toon, in some Christmas garb.

My Toon in Xmas Costume

Normally I look nothing like this, but when I went through a portal I found, I was transformed into the little guy you see there.  I also normally ride a white tiger, however, there are a couple places around that have mistletoe, and if you kiss someone underneath it, you get a gift and when you use it, your mount (my white tiger) is transformed into the reigndeer you see above, for 60 mins.

You can check out  my character Kardellron, I also belong to the guild Burning of the Crusade.

I have so many other screenshots that I’ll probably set up a gallery for them. Which gives me a good excuse to fill up my web server, and check out the differnt picture gallery plugins available for WordPress (the software I’m running here).
